One of the things I enjoy most is travelling. I have been able to visit 50+ countries, and I’m still counting. While I thoroughly enjoy visiting the markets in and around Toronto where I live, I must admit that my visits to markets outside of Canada are a true experience. The smells, the sights, the noises, the absolute chaos of some of these markets, can be an assault to the senses. And then there is what actually is for sale in some of these markets. Meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, amphibians, grains, spices, bugs, various bits and pieces of I’m not sure what.

The photos below are of some of the markets I’ve visited....and I have to say, the meals that I enjoyed in these countries were some of the best I’ve ever had. And I have no doubt that many of the “I’m not sure what that is” ingredients from these markets made it into these delicious meals.  Never count out a good bug if it is sautéed correctly.
